George J. Chang, MD, MS

Dr. Chang is the Chair and Professor of Colon and Rectal Surgery, Associate Vice President of the Regional Surgery Strategy, and Professor of Health Services Research at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He has expertise in the treatment of colon and rectal cancer, including minimally invasive surgery, sphincter preservation, and surgical management of locally recurrent disease. His research program is focused clinical outcomes of colon and rectal cancer treatment and on patient centered clinical comparative effectiveness research. He is co-chair of the Cancer Care Delivery Research Committee of the Alliance and a member of the Commission Cancer, the AJCC Lower GI Committee, and the Gastrointestinal Cancer Steering Committee of the National Cancer Institute. He has authored over 200 peer reviewed manuscripts and serves on the editorial boards of several major journals in the field.
