Surgical innovation for real time assessment of tissue.

17:15 - 19:15

Speaker: Michele Diana and James Kinross
Description:
Rapid evaporative ionisation mass spectrometry (REIMS) reports tissue histology in real time by analysing aerosolised tissue during electrosurgical dissection. REIMS enables you to differentiate between tissues, allowing you to make a fast, accurate and reliable intra-operative diagnosis and tailor your operation to your patient. During this evening presentation, James Kinross from Imperial College London will be presenting this technology and demonstrating the impact of Surgical Humidification on the surgical environment.

HYPerspectral Enhanced Reality (HYPER) is an optical technology that allows for a real-time snapshot of physiological tissue properties. Perfusion is a key factor in determining the success of an anastomosis and HYPER has the potential to quantify it intraoperatively. Join Michele Diana from IRCAD Strasbourg as he demonstrates the use of this tool with Surgical Humidification in an open animal model

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare would like to invite you to join them and a panel to discuss the future applications of these technologies and how they enhance real time decision making and the contribution Surgical Humidification can make. This presentation and discussion will be followed by drinks and canapes. Please include the Surgical Innovations evening session in your registration.
