South Island Tour

ITINERARY

DAY 1 - ARRIVE CHRISTCHURCH

Saturday 31 October

Guests to meet at 10:00am in lobby of Heritage Hotel, Christchurch. We will depart the Heritage for a guided walking tour of Christchurch botanic gardens followed by lunch at a local café. You will then be free to explore Christchurch. Suggested activities include punting on the Avon River or visiting the Canterbury Museum, Christchurch Art Gallery, Arts Centre, Transitional Cathedral, or New Regent Street. The group will meet for dinner in the evening.

Guests to make their own way to Heritage Hotel, Christchurch.

Accommodation: Heritage Hotel, Christchurch.

Included: Lunch, guided walking tour of Christchurch botanic gardens, dinner.

Guests to supply meeting organisers with any dietary requirements they may have.  

 

DAY 2 - CHRISTCHURCH TO AORAKI / MOUNT COOK

Sunday 1 November

Today we will travel from Christchurch to Aoraki / Mount Cook. En-route we will stop at the country town of Geraldine, Church of the Good Shepherd at Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki car park. Once you have settled into your accommodation the group will meet for dinner.

Accommodation: Hermitage Hotel, Aoraki / Mount Cook.

Included: Breakfast, dinner.

 

DAY 3 - AORAKI / MOUNT COOK

Monday 2 November

You will have the day and evening free to explore this stunning alpine area. Suggested activities include Glacier Explorer trip, Tasman Valley 4WD tour, Hooker Valley hike, Ed Hillary Alpine Centre and cinema, and the Department of Conservation interpretative centre.

Accommodation: Hermitage Hotel, Aoraki / Mount Cook.

Included: Breakfast.

 

DAY 4 - AORAKI / MOUNT COOK TO DUNEDIN

Tuesday 3 November

This morning we will travel from Aoraki / Mount Cook to Dunedin. We will stop en-route at the historic Victorian town of Oamaru and Moeraki Boulders. On arrival in Dunedin we will participate in a guided orientation walk around downtown Dunedin. You will have the evning free to explore Dunedin. 

Accommodation: Scenic Hotel, Dunedin.

Included: Breakfast, guided orientation walk of Dunedin.

 

DAY 5 - DUNEDIN

Wednesday 4 November

This morning we will complete a guided tour of Olveston historic home followed by a guided tour of Larnach Castle.

This afternoon and evening participate in an Elm Wildlife Tour where you may see penguins, sea lions, New Zealand fur seals and other marine wildlife. The geographical and exposed nature of this area will require a reasonable level of fitness and appropriate clothing. This is a great tour.

Included: Breakfast, guided tours of Olveston historic home, Larnach Castle, and Elm Wildlife Tour.

 

DAY 6 - DUNEDIN TO TE ANAU

Thursday 5 November

This morning we will travel from Dunedin to Te Anau, stopping en-route in Gore. Once in Te Anau guests you will be free to explore the area and may like to participate in the Te Anau Glow Worm Caves Tour. The group will meet in the evening for dinner. 

Accommodation: Distinction Luxmore Hotel, Te Anau.

Included: Breakfast, dinner.

 

DAY 7 - TE ANAU TO DOUBTFUL SOUND TO QUEENSTOWN

Friday 6 November

This morning we will travel from Te Anau to Manapouri for the Doubtful Sound Experience including a 3 hour cruise on Doubtful Sound. Following the cruise we will continue on to Queenstown where you will have the evening free to explore.

Accommodation: Copthorne Hotel & Resort Queenstown Lakefront, Queenstown.

Included: Breakfast, picnic lunch.

 

DAY 8 - QUEENSTOWN

Saturday 7 November

You will have today free to enjoy Queenstown and meet back up with the group for dinner. Your tour guide will be able to make suggestions and bookings for guests. Suggested activities include Jet boating, gondola ride to Bob's Peak, luging, wine tasting, horseback riding, white water rafting, bungy jumping, Walter Peak Station experiences, Lord of the Rings tours, and Dart River Safari.

Accommodation: Copthorne Hotel & Resort Queenstown Lakefront, Queenstown.

Included: Breakfast, dinner.

 

DAY 9 - DEPART QUEENSTOWN

Sunday 8 November

Guest to depart Queenstown for Auckland. Transfers from Copthorne Hotel & Resort Queenstown Lakefront to Queenstown airport and flight from Queenstown to Auckland are guests own care.

Included: Breakfast, dinner.

 

INCLUSIONS

Per person prices include accommodation, meals and road transport as per itinerary, tour guide, guided tour of Christchurch botanic gardens, guided tour of Olveston historic home, guided tour of Larnach Castle, Elm Wildlife Tour, Doubtful Sound experience and New Zealand Goods and Services Tax at 15%.

Not included in the per person prices are free time activities, non-specified meals, flights, travel insurance, gratuities, laundry charges, communication charges.

Price on a twin or double share basis is NZD$4,145.00 per person.

Price on a single basis is NZD$5,800.00 per person.
